Welcome to T-Ball - 2010
2010 will be a terrific season for all our ball
players as we look forward to an exciting season of softball. The Scarborough
East Minor Softball League offers fun, skill development, friendship and good sports
for children ages 4 to 19.
The T-Ball program is a little different from what
your may have encountered with other age groups over the years. Using input
from the parents, we have developed a program that allows your child to develop
the basics in softball skills while having fun.
All sessions will consist of 45 minutes of skill development and a 45
minute game. There are no outs in the game. Everyone gets to run the bases. The
games will progress in difficulty as the players’ skills improve.
Younger children have a limited attention span and we
want to keep the kids involved and active at all
times. We work on the basic skills of running the bases, throwing, fielding and
hitting. We rotate the players through these stations and once everyone has finished,
we have a mini game. Don’t just sit on the sidelines and expect to be
entertained. We need parents to help out. We always recruit a few parents to
work as coaches, but we need all parents to get involved. You can learn some of
the skills necessary to help your child practice at home.
All activities are on Tuesday night starting at 6 PM,
with a couple of special days. Sunday
June 27 at 1 PM at Charlottetown P.S. is our Photo
Day, BBQ and Skills Competition. Saturday June 19 at 10:45 AM is the annual
Highland Creek Heritage Parade and Saturday August 7 at
9 AM is our wrap up event for the T-Ball division. We
finish off with another Skills Competition, BBQ and Trophy day. All players
will receive a trophy.
T-Ball is a fun event and we want the kids to enjoy
every time they come to play ball. We only run for an hour and a half. No long
boring drills, practices or games. We keep the kids moving. We don’t play in
the rain, the cold or extreme heat. We want the kids to enjoy what they do and
always look forward to coming back the following week. After spending a night
in the cold or rain, who would want to come back and do that again? Certainly not a 4 year old.
We hope to have a 4 team division. We are still
looking for a few more players, so if you know of a neighbour or friend that
would be interested in playing, we can probably get them assigned to your team.
Games are on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. at Charlottetown Public School (map). We’ll see
you all there. Any questions, call 416-281-0253 or
