Starting in 2008 SEMSA required coaches and potential coaches to participate in the Toronto Police Service Reference Checks program.
If you are considering returning as a coach for the 2009 season and did not complete a Reference Check in 2009 then please read on.
Two documents are linked below. The first is SEMSA’s draft policy relating to the police reference checks. It is important that you read and understand this policy. If you have any questions about the policy please contact one the SEMSA Board of Directors.
The second document is a waiver for returning coaches and potential coaches to complete.
THIS WAIVER IS TO BE
COMPLETED
If the Toronto Police Service does not identify police record information SEMSA will receive a statement to this effect. If police record information is found, the coach will then receive a summary of the information and SEMSA will receive notice that the coach has received this summary (SEMSA will not receive any information about the content of the summary). At that point SEMSA and the coach will discuss and determine if there are any concerns about the person continuing as a coach with SEMSA.
If you are considering returning as a coach for the 2009 season then please complete this waiver as soon as possible. Since the program has a cost (will be funded by SEMSA) we ask that if you are not going to return as a coach, then please do not imitate this form. Once the forms are submitted to the Toronto Police Service their review process will take from 6 weeks to 8 weeks.
